Who is Luigi Laita
Luigi Laita, simply Lui to everyone, was born in 1981 in Braunschweig, Germany, into a family with deep roots in Tursi. He grew up in Wolfsburg, but part of his heart has always stayed here.
Summers in Tursi
Every summer the family returned to Tursi: the relatives, the piazza, the evenings outdoors. In the early nineties the family lived here for three years. Luigi went to school in Tursi and his father opened a small electrical appliance shop, “Il Satellite”. Maybe someone still remembers it. Those were years that marked him forever.
Growing up between two worlds
For Luigi, school in Germany was a challenge from beginning to end, and later, in working life, life was not always easy either. Over time he learned not to let others define him, to set his own boundaries and to stop needing to please everyone. From that moment his life took off and everything became easier.
The path in Germany
The apprenticeship
It all began in an electronics shop. Nobody really had time to teach him the trade, so in the evenings Luigi studied on his own from the catalogues. There he understood how much it matters to truly listen to people. In the end he achieved the best practical result of his year.
The marketing agency
His eye for marketing was born from an ugly flyer he was supposed to hand out. He sold his first website for 300 euros, and that client is still with him today, almost twenty years later. Only after ten websites did he realise he already had an agency: websites, photography, video, communication. It has remained his most solid foundation.
Store manager at an Apple Premium Reseller
Here Luigi led a team and learned a great deal about leadership, communication and sales. Above all one thing: never sell someone something that isn’t right for them. In Wolfsburg there are still people who call him “the Apple man”.
Two real estate companies
Together with a partner he founded two real estate companies and built their marketing: in a short time the whole city knew them. The greatest satisfaction was a colleague who arrived extremely shy and in the end went on stage with him to speak in front of an audience. That is when Luigi understood that he can guide people beyond their own limits.
Coach and mentor
After training as a coach, Luigi guides people professionally: from the idea to their own project, all the way to a business that stands on its own feet. At the same time he guides them on a personal level too, because a business only grows as much as the person leading it. And he supports companies on their path to growth.
Speaker
He has been on stage all over Germany, including Munich, Cologne and Berlin. His themes: mindset, and how, with the right mindset, running your own business allows you to live a completely independent life, not only at work but also in your personal life. In Wolfsburg he created a big speaker event, covered by newspapers and two television channels.
Not everything always went smoothly. Like every entrepreneur he has been through difficult times, but each time he got back up, more aware and stronger than before. Perhaps this is his greatest quality.
Coming home
For three years Luigi has cherished the idea of coming back, and these three years have shown him that his place is here. His work in Germany carries on as always: his clients still enjoy his support, thanks in part to today’s digital tools. Now, however, he also wants to put his skills at the service of his homeland, to build here, together, something Tursi has deserved for a long time.
Two worlds, one person
Luigi has learned a great deal from both worlds. Germany taught him precision, discipline and reliability, and the will to tackle things and see them through to the end, whatever obstacle appears. Italy taught him not to forget to enjoy life, not to take everything too seriously and to understand that true perfection lies precisely in imperfection.
Both worlds are part of him, and each has something to give the other. Germany would benefit from a little more lightness and joy of living. Italy can gain from a little more reliability: respecting other people’s time, keeping one’s word and respecting oneself, and relying a little less on the “bella figura”.
Why myTursi
This is also why myTursi was born: to bring these two worlds closer together. Tursi deserves to be seen: the Rabatana, the Cathedral, the poetry of Albino Pierro, but above all the people and businesses that keep it alive every day. myTursi comes from love for this town, because Luigi felt it was the right thing to do. It is a place where you find opening hours, businesses, events and stories, for those who live here and for those who come to discover it.
discover home: for those who live in Tursi it means rediscovering home, for those who come from elsewhere it means finding a new one.
If you meet him in the piazza, stop and say hello: a coffee together is always a good idea.
